Monday

English 8
Today we started reading "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The headless horseman wants you to write 4+ sticky notes and put them right there into the story. These sticky notes could be any of the following:

1. Question about any element of the story or about the writing.
2. Comment about any element of the story or about the writing.
3. Opinion!

Tomorrow we'll be looking at connections to this story, and we'll be using a different colour to indicate the connections we make.

Homework
Finish your sticky notes!

English 11
You'll be getting permission letters for watching Macbeth and Apocalypse Now. Both of these films offer an expanded understanding of what we've been doing in class. We need the permission letters because the films are R rated.

Today, we read up to Act 4 scene 2. We'll do scene 3 and much of act 5 tomorrow. The plan is to finish by Wednesday! (Thursday is our final lit circle day).

Today we finished our first connections paragraph. Good job all around. If all goes well, I'll be able to return the drafts to you tomorrow and we'll be able to use the feedback going forward.

Homework
Read the short story: Crime on Mars and do questions 1 - 7. This includes both level 1, 2, and 3 questions.

English 11
First lit circle complete! Plenty of excellent discussion all around. We'll be blasting through Act 2 tomorrow.

Homework
Get started on your next role. Make sure you've handed in your first role before the weekend, as I'll have them all marked and returned by Monday next week.

English 9 SPECTRUM
Many of us finished our paragraphs today. For those of you who need a little more time, the only time that's really going to work is Monday morning before class. Do your best to come in before class tomorrow and we'll get to work on finishing that essay. Monday, we'll be doing an editing activity.

Here's a little update:

English 9 SPECTRUM
I'll be handing back journals tomorrow. Check them for feedback so you know what to work on for the next hand in. We'll be continuing our compare and contrast drafts tomorrow.

Most of you have handed in your double entry journals and our first set of short story questions. Some are still missing. Make sure you always hand in your work! I'll be checking in on this tomorrow.

Today we were introduced to a connections paragraph. We'll be doing our first practice run tomorrow. Bring your step 1 notes!
