Today we're going to do some peer and self-editing of our creative writing. This means working in groups and using some strategies to make sure our writing meets the criteria, and that it's enjoyable to read.

In small groups, we will work with one other who we will exchange our writing with. You may use email or google docs to do this. Once you have your partner's writing, do the following:

1. Read it through.
2. Did you understand the story?
3. Check for grammar.
4. Check for the elements of fiction.
5. Check for dialogue.

After reading, write a paragraph for your partner. Explain your opinion of the story and your thoughts on improving it. Send the paragraph to me and your partner. After this, we'll take a break :)

Once we're back from our break, you should read the feedback from your partner. Think about how you might change or edit your work to improve it. On your own, I want you to use the STAR strategy.

Check the link above, and go through each step - starting with SUBSTITUTE. 

Once you're done, you're looking at the final copy of your creative writing. Some of you will be done quickly, others will need some time. Check the criteria one more time, and send it to me by the end of Tuesday, July 21.
