Greetings English 12 folks! There's plenty to do coming up as we rapidly approach the first report card. The marks deadline for us is going to be April 10, after which point I will not be able to accept any further work for the first semester.

If you are concerned about missing work, please come and see me. Here are upcoming assignments and deadlines:

April 5: SFH Package.
April 5: 1984 Creative Assignment.
April 1 - 5: In-Class Synthesis writing.

During the week of our return, we'll be writing a synthesis essay to conclude the literary work of 1984. Don't count on class time to work on your creative assignment or SFH package.

Consider your use of time carefully as we approach the end of term 1.

"Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past," repeated Winston obediently.

"Who controls the present controls the past," said O'Brien, nodding his head with slow approval. "Is it your opinion, Winston, that the past has real existence?" (3.2.39-40)

What does this suggest about where we came from and the fragility of our heritage?
